When Your Nervous System Just Needs a Little Extra Nourishment
Hey friend — If you’ve felt off lately — tired, edgy, overwhelmed, or like you're living in a swirl of noise — you're not alone. Sometimes it’s not just what we’re eating, it’s everything else we’re trying to digest. I’ve been there too. And I just want to say: your nervous system might be craving a little reset. At New Leaf Table, we talk a lot about food — but the deeper reason is because real food is a daily rhythm of care. A way to support your mind, body, and soul through the chaos. A way to tell your nervous system: you are safe here.

5 Simple Ways to Reset (Chef E Style)
Breathe Deep, Friend.
Try this: inhale for 4, hold for 7, exhale for 8. Repeat 3 times. Even this tiny rhythm can nudge your body back into peace.
Nourish Gently.
Focus on grounding meals with protein, healthy fats, and mineral-rich foods. Think: a warm bowl of Butternut Squash Soup, a spoonful of Fond bone broth, a slice of our Savory Lentil Loaf with roasted carrots.
Step Outside.
Even just a few barefoot moments in the yard or a slow walk around the block can re-center you. Look for the sunrise. Feel the sun on your face. That’s real nourishment too.
Unplug with Intention.
Give your mind a chance to be still. Light a candle. Play quiet music. Read something that reminds you who you are before the world told you to hustle.
Hydrate & Sprinkle Some Salt.
Mineral-rich hydration is magic. Half your body weight in ounces of water a day, plus a pinch of sea salt or splash of electrolytes = a nervous system that can breathe again.
A Few Gentle Affirmations from Me to You
These are verses I keep close when the world feels heavy:
- “God has given me a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
- “I can release worry and choose joy.” (Philippians 4:6–7)
- “I am steadied by peace, not shaken by fear.” (Isaiah 26:3)
- “I am held and sustained, every single day.” (Psalm 55:22)
Let Food Be Part of the Healing
The recipes at New Leaf Table aren’t just about clean eating — they’re about creating rhythms that support you. So when the world feels a little wild, come back to your kitchen.
Try these:
- Lemon Chicken Soup with Quinoa & Greens – warm, mineral-rich, deeply soothing
- Miso-Ginger Broth Bowls – grounding and supportive for digestion
- Sheet Pan Chicken & Carrots with Herbed Butter – simplicity that feeds more than your stomach
You are not alone in feeling the weight of the world sometimes. But I promise, even one intentional breath, one nourishing bowl, one walk in the sun — it matters.
With you always,
Chef E
